Designed and built on one of the largest estates in the Preston Hollow neighborhood of Dallas, this project definitely stands out in a community of beautiful homes. Our office was responsible for the pool and all the landscape elements, from the front entry gates to the rear of the property, which backed up to the creek. The home sat high enough upon a hill to give all within a spectacular view of the garden.
The garden is centered around a lovely walking path, beginning at the home’s front door, through a boxwood parterre and ending in a stunning angular rose garden. The formality and inspiration of the grass parterres of Versailles that flank the swimming pool provide a year-round green space terrific for entertaining. The intricate patterns were all cut out of Conservation Grass by our team.
As are most of our projects, often there are complicated issues that only a landscape architect is qualified to handle. Who in this case, was residential architect Richard Davis Drummond. The property backed up to a creek in a flood plain which had to be corrected if we were to successfully build this complex type of garden. The grade had to be raised a number of feet above the line that defined the flood plain. Precise excavation, regrading, and drainage planning was necessary to build the swimming pool that was also part of this project. The project took about 9 months to complete from design through installation.
